The Law of Attraction has been deemed a spiritually “out there” unlikely concept by many non-believers. I was very skeptical of this concept myself. Now that I’ve done more research (research as in read countless books and articles about other people’s research on the topic), I found that the Law of Attraction is a simple universal principle. Believing it’s true or untrue doesn’t change anything. It’s simply your choice to have an awareness of it or not. If you believe the law of attraction is real and get in tune with it, you can start predicting and expecting what happens to you, for you.

The secret to the law of attraction is you have to feel that you are already in attainment of your desire. This makes sense because the law of attraction states that energy attracts like energy. So if you have a low vibration, are thinking negative thoughts, are in a downward spiral- you are attracting that same negative energy and circumstances. Have you ever heard someone say, “This day just keeps getting worse. When it rains it pours”?

On the contrary, if you have a high vibration, are thinking positive thoughts, your day is easy and enjoyable – you are attracting the same positive energy and circumstances.

So how do you raise your vibration to express a positive energy, so you can attract positive circumstances? How do you feel that you are in attainment of what you want, without actually having it yet?

You can pin up pictures on a vision board and drink green smoothies all day, but if you don’t feel the energy of that which you want to attract, you’re attracting more lack of what you don’t have.

I used to be in this law of attraction rut. For example, I used to think “I want to afford a nice vacation to Colorado.” So I pinned up pictures of Colorado on my vision board, I imagined myself there, I meditated, I even bought myself a tank top that said Colorado with a matching hat. So touristy of me. But a couple years went by and no vacation; we couldn’t afford it. I became very skeptical of this law of attraction thing.

I was missing the biggest step! You have to feel that you already attain the vacation to align yourself with the energy to receive that same energy of a vacation in physical form. Remember, like attracts like.

This exercise is a game changer:

  1. Choose 3 things that you desire and write them down on a piece of paper
  2. For each desire, find a picture that represents that desire. How do you feel when you look at the picture, imaging you already have it?
  3. Looking at the picture, write down the feeling or emotion behind that picture.
  4. Write down 3 things you can do right now to feel the emotion of what that desire represents.

It’s that simple.

Here is a personal example:

I was a night shift nurse but wanted a complete career change. I felt I was being called to do something else but wasn’t sure what to do. I was moving, planning a wedding and had bills to pay. I knew I couldn’t quit my job to figure it out, but I felt very stuck and needed a change. I wanted a job that was inspiring and in alignment with my true self.

Desire: I want a new job

Feeling/Emotion: Excitement and passion

3 things I can do right now to align my energy: Dance, Read an inspirational book, Trail run with a motivating playlist

Within weeks of routinely dancing, reading and running, I aligned my energy to evoke the feeling of passion and excitement. Ideas and circumstances changed around me to foster a complete career change, as that same passionate energy was attracted back to me. I got a day shift position in a hospital within weeks, and then shortly thereafter was offered a school nurse position with summers off and frequent vacations- both of these circumstances gave me the time and energy needed to find my purpose- to vision quest, read, become a yoga instructor, etc. Now, I have a blog that is 100% aligned with who I am and I have a clear vision of what I want going forward.

The Law of Attraction is a universal law that’s going to work with or without your permission. Your awareness & understanding of how it can work in your life, will attract more of the things that you actually desire.
